Parque Nacional Natural Tayrona, northeastern Colombia - March 2015
March 7, 2015 -- I finally made it to Parque Nacional Natural Tayrona this weekend, just north of my present location in Santa Marta, Colombia. One of Colombia's best know parks, Tayrona is located on the Caribbean coast, and is fairly lush compared to the surronding landscape.
Here are some pics from my day yesterday. Tayrona was one of the first places in Colombia I read about, and became a must see/experience destination on my "to do" list. In actually visitng the park, I enjoyed my last two days enough that I look forward to going back asap... before I leave this corner of Colombia (whenever that will be, possibly soon, possibly not).
Finally, if you have ever had the good fortune of visiting Steward Island, off the South Island of New Zealand, I will not be surprised if you too see similarities between there and Tayrona.... particularly regarding the granite rock strewned beaches.
