Tarovo Falls, Bouma National Heritage Park (October 1, 2004)
Hiking up to Tarovo Falls in Bouma National Herigate Park...
After my visit to the school, I went for a six hour walk up the the Tavoro Falls trail, where I basked in the glory and warm water of three different waterfalls with clear cool swimming holes at each one.
On the Tavoro Falls hike, each falls got a bit shorter, each one also was in a place that was a bit wilder, and no one was with me at the third falls. There I climbed up the 30 foot volcanic wall to see 16 orchid plants at the top. Sixteen, all in bloom. A 30 foot waterfall, a deep pool of clear cool water at the base of the falls, Fijian jungle all around, and big (as in flower stems of up to two feet) wild blooming orchids. Paradise!!! Were it not for the pending darkness, I could have hung out there forever. I also saw some colorful birds (including a parrot, which I did not expect to see here).
