May 20, 2015 -- Last night, I had a layover in Panama City, on route to the states and PDX. Spent the night in Casco Viejo - the city's Old Town section. This morning, I took a walk, so I could take in the scene that is Panama City on a Tuesday AM. What I saw was a place that is both run-down (the area was basically abandoned for many years) and being renovated (it was recently declared a UNESCO site).
